Greetings from Canon City, Colorado!
We are halfway through our prison ministry focus here in Colorado. It has been a tremendous privilege to walk with these offenders as they’ve identified and begun to process specific pain areas in their lives. We saw many tears of sorrow for their own personal wrong choices and also tears as they chose to forgive those who have deeply hurt them. I see them as heroes of faith as they are building treasures in heaven, in spite of the horrendous abuse and pain many of them have experienced. There is a glow and radiance that reflects on the countenance of those who choose God’s way, even though it cost them greatly.
Tomorrow we will begin a weekend of ministry at Territorial Correctional Facility. We will be spending eighteen hours in these next three days with a group of approximately forty offenders. Please pray for our family, the prison staff, offenders and the volunteers who will join us. We desire to be sensitive to and led by God’s spirit.
This week we had two days without services and we’ve enjoyed relating with the local New Horizon families as much as possible. Cindy has also been working with next year’s school planning. She has all the materials gathered and is organizing them and preparing for the upcoming school year. We are planning to begin school studies the beginning of August so it will be near the end of this tour. It seems unbelievable that the summer school break will be over again soon. Next week we will begin working our way back east. We will be sharing in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.
Please pray for us against spiritual, emotional and physical attacks from the enemy. We often feel these attacks when God is at work. Also pray with us regarding the expenses we concur without direct reimbursement for our time spent within the prisons. It is a fruitful ministry and we feel called to this area of ministry, yet it is a step of faith because of it not generating financial support.
We believe one of the greatest assets we have are those of you who are our prayer warriors. Many of you tell us that you pray for us daily, and this means more than we can express. Please continue to pray with us that the power of evil would be pushed back and that God would be glorified.
