Update from Duane

Good evening to each of you. We are preparing for our upcoming tour, which will include the annual prison ministry week in South Carolina. Please be in prayer for the many volunteers, ministry teams, and evangelists as they prepare to come and share.

I also wanted to share about the exciting new opportunity we have in prison ministry. In March, we are conducting the first ever, “Five Days of Purpose.”

Our goal is to build upon the foundation that has been established by many evangelical ministries who helps them begin their relationship with God. We will be spending over 40 hours in one prison with one group of inmates. Our goal is to equip them to go deeper in their relationship with God.

Below is a two minute video clip explaining the purpose of this week. We will begin at Perry Corr. Inst. in South Carolina on Sunday, March 17 – Thursday, March 21.

Our focus will be assisting inmates in overcoming pain in their lives. Many of them have mentally assented to a relationship with God through Jesus. Yet their life continues in a destructive direction because they have not dealt with things in their past, and learned how to walk in victory in their daily life. The pain of the past tends to trap us in unhealthy behaviors and a “victim mentality.”

Our instructors will assist helping inmates to identify their pain, grieve the loss, identify lies they believe, and give practical help in becoming an overcomer. We believe the first vital step in helping someone overcome negative behavior is to care for the hurt and pain that is at the root of these behaviors.

The schedule will include teaching, small group discussions, as well as one-on-one times. There is still opportunity for more volunteers sign up to come and assist with the small group break outs. These volunteers will help inmates in processing the teaching sessions and making it personal for them. Below are the ways you can participate.

Please Join Us:

As our prayer team. If you will consider praying for us for these five days in March, we will put you on a daily update email list where we’ll send a brief update each day of this event. We would greatly appreciate your prayers. We have experienced the power when believers join us in prayer! If you want us in this way, send your email address to themullettfamily@gmail.com, and we will add you to the prayer team.

As a volunteer. We will be utilizing 25 men to join our team for this prison focus. As a volunteer, you will be involved in facilitating a small group of inmates. The first prerequisite is that our volunteers come with a caring, non-judgmental heart. We have seen the greatest healing and growth take place when caring for pain is a primary focus rather than only speaking truth from an intellectual perspective. We’re planning to have a minimum of two volunteers in each of the small groups. Volunteers will be responsible to take care of lodging, food, and travel expenses for the week. (More information below.)

Assisting financially. Our budget for these 40 hours with 75 inmates is approximately $9,500. We will start each day at 9:00 AM and dismiss at 5:00 PM. (The prison food service will provide lunch to us and the inmates, to prevent “count time” from interrupting our days.) To help specifically with the costs for this week, please note: “5 Days of Purpose” with your donation. Follow this link or send to: From Pain to Purpose, PO Box 217 Lynn, NC 28750

To participate as a volunteer, contact Duane Mullett at 828-817-1109 or email duane@themullettfamily.com

*Applications need to be completed for the background checks to be conducted. Friday, February 15th is the deadline for applications to be turned in.

We are excited to see what God will be doing in this very first “Five Days of Purpose.” Thank you for standing with us!

Because of Jesus,

Duane
