Update from Duane

Hello from our home! Our family has been enjoying beautiful springtime-in-the-mountains. We leave again this weekend, but have been glad for a brief “touch-down” time at home before this upcoming tour.

Our daughter, Alisha, had a heart catheterization and biopsy last week. The report was excellent, and we are so grateful to God for her report. They measured the pressures inside her transplanted heart, did a coronary artery study, and took several small pieces of tissue from inside her heart. (Her younger sister was concerned when she heard of this and exclaimed, “But she soon won’t have a heart left if they keep taking pieces of it!”) The purpose of each test is to check for stages of rejection. She takes an immunosuppressant medication every 12 hours to suppress her immune system, but they still need to check for rejection regularly. All tests from last week came back clean, no rejection at all. We have been doing this procedure every two years. She is so thankful she won’t need to do this again until 2021. Being sedated and having a procedure like this always has its risks, and we are thankful for God‘s hand of protection over her.

Brianna has consistently moved forward in our From Pain to Purpose Ministry and has grown into the role of administrative assistant. Her abilities are constantly being stretched and has given her greater experience in the behind-the-scenes aspect of ministry. She does an excellent job in the many roles she carries. We are praying that a secretary can join us soon to assist in the paperwork, etc. that is needed to keep our ministry focus going.

The school countdown is on for Chantaya and Kyra. They have had a very focused school year, and Cindy was able to start them earlier in the school year. As of today, they have TWO days of school left, plus a few additional days to complete their annual achievement tests. They are excited!

Cindy has discerned that, for this season, it is best for her to discontinue her ladies’ retreat speaking engagements. This will allow more time for her to focus on writing, as well as being a mother and the many other behind-the-scenes aspects of our ministry focus.

We are seeking God in this next phase of our From Pain to Purpose book. We would like to spend time this summer developing and shaping the content. We also have several other exciting projects that we will be sharing as they get closer.

This next tour include Sturgis, Michigan; Hicksville, Ohio; Millersburg, Ohio and New Holland, Pennsylvania. (See our schedule for locations and times). If you can join us, we’d love to see you!

Because of Jesus,

Duane
