The Evening

Stories don’t end where they started

This fall we’ll set the tables, share a meal, and share an evening of music and stories about pain that didn’t get the last word.

This year Grant Bontrager will share his — a life that began in the worst circumstance imaginable and became a testimony of healing. The Mullett Family will lead us in music, and Chaplain Mark Prevatt will bring a report from inside Jefferson Correctional Institution, where this ministry reaches men most of the world has written off.

Come hungry and bring someone who needs to hear that God is not finished with them.

Duane & Cindy, with Chantaya and Kyra

Duane and Cindy Mullett have spent more than forty years in full-time church ministry, traveling the country with seminars and songs on grief and recovery. They lead this evening not as observers of pain but as people who have carried it — including the loss of their son, Austin.

Together with their daughters Chantaya and Kyra, they’ll open the night in music and share from the book that gave this ministry its name, From Pain 2 Purpose.

Grant Bontrager

Grant Bontrager was born as the result of a sexual assault. Raised in a loving Christian home, he still wrestled with identity, with questions about his past, and with whether God had a plan for his strange, confusing life. It wasn’t until he brought that pain to Jesus, the True Healer, that he found his identity and his answers. He now shares his story in prisons and churches.

Chaplain Prevatt serves the men inside Jefferson Correctional Institution, where From Pain to Purpose has carried this message behind the walls. He’ll bring a firsthand report on what God is doing in a place most people never see. If you’ve never heard what happens when this message lands in a cell block, come for that alone.
